Every year, Fenton's Ice Cream Shop in Oakland designates Alameda County 4-H clubs their Community Partner for the month of July. Alameda County 4-H receives the proceeds from the sale of a special sundae, and in turn this helps to pay the fees for many members in 4-H. For our club alone, we had almost 500$ of our waived fees covered, which is pretty good fund-raising for one afternoon!
In return, the 4-H clubs of Alameda County each take a weekend day and provide an outreach booth outside Fenton's from 11 - 3 pm (there is some flexibility on hours if needed), bringing attention to the sale of the sundae, and of course all the great activities of 4-H. Fenton's saves 2 parking spots for us, and there's usually enough space for tables and a grid for posters. 4-H members can show off work from their projects (posters, tri-folds, made items), provide an make-and-take activity or other hands-on activities for the younger visitors, show off animals and pets (always popular), and of course bring brochures and other outreach materials for their club and 4-H.
A blog post about East Hills' booth last year with pictures and lots of information about the details (in case your club hasn't done this before).
