East Hills Open House

August 28, 2017 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

East Hills 4-H Club, a homeschool friendly 4-H club in Alameda County with daytime meetings, is currently seeking new members, girls and boys, ages 5-17. You are invited to join us at our Open House on Monday, August 28th from 1-3 pm at Creekside Community Church at 951 MacArthur Blvd., San Leandro.

You can speak with club members and parent volunteers about:

• Projects that will be offered this upcoming year. Here are just a few: Archery, Sewing, Digital Makerspace, Digital Art, Astronomy and Physics through History, Succulents, NaNoWriMo, several environmental stewardship projects in plastic pollution and gardening, Fiber Arts and a Small Animal Project. We learn by doing in 4-H!
• Fun events that we put on for our club, county 4-H clubs and/or the public. These include Game Night, various Field Days, Summer Camp, Film Fest and more.
• What members learn and do by being in 4-H. Along with project based learning, 4-H provides opportunities for public speaking, leadership (our youth run the club), record keeping, community service and citizenship. Members also start projects (with an adult volunteer) about their own interests that can turn into multi-year projects.

4-H is a great complement to homeschooling. Along with the project based learning and public speaking and community service mentioned already, 4-H helps develop the ability to work cooperatively with others, acquire knowledge and skills, explore careers, and make new friends.
